Silicon Valley Leans on Top Performers to Inspire Slimmed-Down Workforces — The Information



After slashing headcount and rooting out underperformers, some of Silicon Valley’s biggest employers are leaning more on their best workers to get colleagues to step up their game.

Salesforce last month launched a new program aimed at encouraging high-performing salespeople to help out their peers. Meta’s human resources department has been weighing better ways to identify and deploy top workers across the company, a person with direct knowledge of the discussions told The Information.

And many startups have been tracking the high-profile example set by Twitter, where CEO and new owner Elon Musk reportedly told workers in a November email that strong engineers would “have the greatest sway” within the dramatically slimmed-down company.
