? I’m looking for business owners and marketers in Alpharetta-Milton who want to build awareness, connect with customers and increase sales.

Here are the top stories in Alpharetta-Milton today:

  1. The first free spring gardening class was held last week at the Community Center at Milton City Park and Preserve. Students learned about pollination, including how to attract and include bees in your garden. This class, which had about 40 attendees, was the first in a series of three. Future classes will cover trees, fragrant gardens and garden tools. (City of Milton)
  2. Milton is running “mini” art camps next week during February break. There are different sessions depending your child’s age. Childrenwill work on projects inspired by dogs, cats and African-American artists. All programs will take place at the Community Center at Milton City Park and Preserve. Here is a link to sign up www.miltonga.gov/Registration ; click on the art tab. (City of Milton)
  3. A Roswell daycare that had several child abuse incidents has reopened. The state had taken away Parker-Chase preschool’s license after videos of two teachers showed them abusing children surfaced. Zeina Alostwani and Soriana Briceno were seen kneeling on a child’s back, stepping on fingers and hitting a child’s forehead. The teachers were arrested; the day care must pay a fine, provide more employee training and allow site visits from Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning over the next year. (WSB Atlanta)

Today in Alpharetta-Milton:

From my notebook:

  • All Milton City Hall and Police and Fire administrative offices plus the library will be closed on Monday, February 20 due to the Presidents Day holiday. This holiday is always on the third Monday in February and celebrates the birthday of President Washington, which was on Feb. 22, 1732. City of Alpharetta offices plus the library will be closed as well. (City of Milton)
  • It’s American Heart Month and here are some tips to keep your heart healthy. Of course, speak with your doctor about any concerns. Maintain a healthy weight and diet. Don’t smoke, and avoid secondhand smoke. If possible, try to manage your stress, cholesterol and blood pressure. ( City of Alpharetta)
  • Are you familiar with the Move Over Law? Many people don’t know that it covers many different types of vehicles including police cars with flashing lights, ambulances, firetrucks and tow trucks. You can be fined up to $500, so it’s important to move over for these vehicles. ( City of Alpharetta)
