Here are the top 3 stories in Dunedin today:

  1. Blue Jays manager John Schneider recently revealed that he performed the Heimlich maneuver on a woman while having lunch with his wife at Clear Sky Draught House in Dunedin. “You have to help out when you can,” Schneider said on Sunday. “I was eating lunch, and a woman was choking on, I think it was a shrimp. I wandered over there, asked if I could help, nobody at her table was helping, so a couple Heimlichs and she was all good.” The restaurant manager was quick to thank Schneider, offering him a free beer. 2. Local businesses are looking forward to the first normal spring training season since 2019. Previously, the season was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and last year’s labor issues which caused a delayed start. This year, local businesses are looking forward to finally getting things back on track. “Business was down substantially from pre-COVID,” said Delco’s co-owner Cyndi Bowers. “We’re really looking forward to it, and we have already seen business pick up.” It was just in October that Canada lifted its cross-border travel restrictions, so Dunedin businesses especially will see an uptick in sales. (Forbes)
  3. Save the date! The Dunedin Seafood and Music Festival is coming to Olde Bay Café and Edgewater Park on March 25 between noon and 9 p.m. Enjoy delicious food from local restaurants and pop-ups such as stone crabs, fish, ceviche, crepes, blue crabs, lobster, shrimp, burgers, chicken, hotdogs, BBQ, and so much more. They will also serve craft beers from local breweries, wine, and sangria. Local schools, civic groups, bands, and talent groups will take the community stage, providing guests with plenty of entertainment. Additionally, attendees will enjoy live music performed by local favorites Steve McNulty, Aubrey Wollet, and Jericho Turnpike. Those interested in performing on the community stage or volunteering at the event can text 727-451-9214 or email Festival@OldeBayCafe.com. (Olde Bay Café via Facebook)
