? Here are the top stories today in Los Angeles:

1. P-22 is dead. Officials from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife announced that they euthanized the mountain lion Saturday morning. You may remember that the big cat had been acting out of character and was captured on Monday for an examination. Reportedly, P-22 was struck by a hit-and-run driver in a dark luxury sedan last Sunday on “Los Feliz Boulevard between Rowena Avenue and Griffith Park Boulevard,” which resulted in a facial injury. Besides that, the mountain lion suffered “herniation of . . . abdominal organs into his chest” as well as “irreversible kidney disease, chronic weight loss, extensive parasitic skin infection over his entire body and localized arthritis.” After undergoing a necropsy, L.A.’s favorite mountain lion will go to the Natural History Museum. 2. “Bank jugging” is the latest crime from which Angelenos need to protect themselves. A Friday report shows that in addition to follow-home robberies, bank jugging is increasing, too. It refers to “thieves staking out potential victims in bank parking lots, then following them to their next destination in order to rob them.” What can you do to prevent it from happening to you? Avoid the ATM, do your withdrawals inside, hide “bank slip envelopes inside a bag when exiting and taking valuables with you inside to your next destination instead of leaving or hiding them in the car.” (KTLA)
3. A protest near Westwood Boulevard and Ohio Avenue on Saturday was the latest effort of the Iranian American community to demand change after a 22-year-old woman was detained and subsequently died in Tehran. The movement is seeing results, because the “U.N. Economic and Social Council voted to immediately oust Iran from the U.N.’s premiere global body fighting for gender equality.” (ABC)
4. The California Transportation Commission awarded Los Angeles more than $200 million for transportation projects. The Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT) announced on Wednesday some of the projects that will benefit from this influx of cash. They include complete street elements on Skid Row, the improvement of Osborne Street, bike facilities in the Wilmington area, and safety upgrades on seven miles of Western Avenue, running from Washington to Century. 5. La Terra Development intends to develop the space at 4112-4134 Del Rey Avenue. We learned on Friday that the company filed the required paperwork with the city planner. “The structure proposed by the application would be six stories tall and contain 210 one, two and three-bedroom units. The parking garage proposed for the building could hold 252 vehicles in a central area.” Part of the application is a zoning exemption for the building’s height. (Yo Venice)
